Dr. Zubin J Daruwalla is a doctorpreneur, surgeon, futurist, thought leader, advisor, mentor, and patient and HealthTech advocate. He has delivered over 100 talks and presentations, including multiple keynotes in more than 12 countries and across 5 continents. While Zubin remains a practicing clinician, he is also the PwC Singapore Health Industries Leader and sits on PwC’s Global Health Leadership Team.

After graduating with Honours Degrees from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and before his move to bridge the clinical and corporate worlds, Zubin pursued training in Orthopaedic Surgery. His career as a surgeon in both the public and private sectors across multiple countries and cities, including Dublin, Oxford and Singapore has allowed him to gain a global perspective in providing his clients insights to solving their most complex challenges. He has extensive experience in Digital Health, Medical Education, HealthTech and MedTech, and is a consultant, advisor and mentor to a number of startups and individuals in these spaces locally and internationally. With more than thirty publications to his name, he holds Bachelors Honours Degrees in Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynaecology from the RCSI as well as two Masters Degrees in Orthopaedic Surgery from the RCSI and National University Singapore. In addition to being invited Faculty of Harvard Medical School, Zubin is also an invited External Advisory Board Member of the RCSI, an invited Project Evaluation Panel Member for Singapore’s National Health Innovation Centre’s Innovation to Commercialisation (I2C) Programme, and an Executive Committee Member of the Dyslexia Association of Singapore.

Zubin’s mission to bridge the clinical and corporate worlds using technology and HealthTech as an enabler and work towards his vision of ensuring affordable, accessible and A+ (what he often refers to as, “The 3 As”) care to all is clearly demonstrated by his professional roles and achievements. Disrupting traditional ways of thinking by always challenging the status quo and reimagining the possible, Zubin has become well known for his thought leadership and collaborative style. He was the first person in Ireland to use a robot to conduct tele ward rounds and the first in Singapore to use telemedicine at departmental level in the National University Hospital. His proudest contribution however, was the pro bono work he did with Singapore’s Ministry of Health in regard to not only the conceptualisation but also build and use of their Telemedicine Allocation and Reconciliation System (TMARS) that subsequently became the default platform nationally for use by Singapore’s foreign worker population.

A former Singapore national athlete, Zubin has always understood the importance of true teamwork which has culminated in his strong collaborative nature. Driven by passion and purpose, and considering himself to have the heart of a proud Singaporean and mind of a clinician, Zubin wishes to put these to use in as best possible a way and always work towards giving back and making a difference, even if in just the smallest way.
